Attention Parents of Players Using their Own Helmets

Hello Folks,

With the football season now concluded, a quick note regarding helmets.

Due to decision in the courts, starting in 2016, the BMFA started inspecting, recording and approving helmets and shoulder pads that you provide to your child to wear while engaging in BMFA activities. With this change, this resulted in some helmets being unsuitable for use this past season.

In an attempt to prevent this situation in 2018, we are suggesting that you include your helmet with the BMFA helmets when we send them for recertification. Not only will this save you money, it will also assure that your child’s helmet is certified and eligible to wear.

The cost for basic helmet recertification is $40.00; due when you drop off the helmet. Additional cost may be incurred if your helmet needs parts, repairs or repainting.

If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity here are the details:

Helmet Drop Off

  • Where: BMFA Equipment Room (located in the Field House behind Nelson Stadium)
  • When: December 5, 6, 12 and 13 between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm.

Helmets will be returned in late February or early March 2018.

Important Note

Any helmet with a recertification or manufacturing date of 2015 or earlier will not be eligible for use in the BMFA in 2018.
